Wakboarder 0
Hello, I use an NGINX Reverse Proxy Setup to direct access emby. https://mydomain.com/videofiles/ My domain uses a godaddy SSL certificate and I am able to connect remotely using Chromecast, Several variations of Roku's, Android App, HTML5 Client. I am trying to connect to my server using AndroidTV and have not been successful. I enter the URL I listed above for the server settings and have tried the following combinations for Port.... 443 - Can't connect to server 0000 - Can't connect to server (blank) - This seems to give me the best result I don't receive a can't connect to server error, however the connection is not listed after it leaves the screen. I have thoroughly checked my SSL Certificate and it passes all validation checks, I am confident with my reverse proxy settings as I have been using them for a couple of years now with multiple remote clients, any thoughts are appreciated. -Wakboarder
ebr 14947
Hi. What external port did you setup for Emby in your Router? The default is 8920
Wakboarder 0
All WAN traffic to my website connects on port 443. I can connect to my website from a public internet connection using the following url in a web browser and connect. https://mywebsite.com:443/videofiles/ or https://mywebsite.com/videofiles/ -------- I can connect to http://emby:8096 from my internal network (LAN). Nginx reverse proxies to emby on 8096. Did I understand your question correctly?
ebr 14947
Can you connect to Emby from outside your network using a web browser?
Wakboarder 0
Yes I can connect from outside of my network. I tried to convey in my initial post that I have multiple devices connecting from outside of my network.... My domain uses a godaddy SSL certificate and I am able to connect remotely using Chromecast, Several variations of Roku's, Android App, HTML5 Client. I guess I should have been more clear with the word remotely, to me this means outside of the network from a Public IP. ebr 14947
Okay, then the most likely scenario is that the Android TV device does not trust your certificate. There is no way to bypass this on this device (like you can on a browser or mobile by accepting a prompt).
Wakboarder 0
If that was the case a log file be able to prove your conclusion. Where would i retrieve a log file for an instance of Emby AndroidTV that would contain the information regarding setting up a server connection? ebr 14947
You can send a log from the app after a login failure attempt.
Wakboarder 0
I have seen the option to send a log file, I have ignored it because I don't connect to the Emby Cloud. If I were to select that option, would i have to link my emby account, how would I review the log contents? I have ssh access. Is there a way for me to retrieve the log file from the device itself? Thank you for all your help, I have been scratching my head on this one for a while. The Emby apps work great on my devices, the only other time I have given up was when I tried using an Amazon Firestick to connect, no luck with that device either. I just verified that my ssl certificate is working without any issues being shown @ https://www.digicert.com/help/

You sent the log then provide the information requested here and we can look at the log to see if there is anything helpful. If you hook up the adb and tail the logcat on the device, you could look at it yourself.
Wakboarder 0
Ok. Your questions have provoked some thought on my side. I will verify that dns is resolving correctly on the device. I will attempt an adb connection to view the log, finally I will seek further assistance via your log uploader if I am still coming up empty, super appreciate your team and your willingness to supply answers and quick responses. -Wakboarder
