chrisk111 0
I'm new to Emby so I apologize if this is a known issue or i'm just an idiot. I installed emby on 2 different computers (Threadripper/2080 & 8700k/1070ti) just to confirm it wasnt a PC issue. I have an apple tv 4th gen (yes i know its only 1080p)....I'm trying to watch family videos that are 4k h264 and download family videos from iphone. The h264 basically plays in the choppiest way possible, unwatchable. I tried a video in Apple ProRes4k and it was much smoother, but every 4-5 seconds it flickered or choppy. What am I doing wrong? Is this because i'm playing 4k to a 1080p? The computers have no issue playing these videos, only the Apple TV (tried it on 2 of them). Thanks for any advice you can provide. ebr 14912
Hi. Can you try disabling the hardware acceleration in the server transcode settings?
chrisk111 0
Hi. Can you try disabling the hardware acceleration in the server transcode settings? I tried on both PC's and it was the same. The apple prores version is 6x as large of a file, but plays reasonably smooth. Not sure whats wrong with the H264 version. Luke 37064
@@chrisk111 can you update to Emby Server 4.0.2 and try again? Thanks !
mawazi 1
I think that part of the issue is that the Apple TV 4th Gen is only supposed to accept resolutions up to 1080p60, and a maximum h264 level of 4.2. 2160p60, according to the spec, shouldn’t be possible under that level constraint. Emby should probably downscale to 1080p with a max h264 level of 4.2. I don’t know what the Apple TV is trying to do internally when presented with a 2160p60 video. I thought we were accounting for this but we'll double check. Thanks !
