Latest TV images are now portrait after update to 4.0

I had all of my images, for libraries, Next Up and four Latest TV sections set to Thumb images when using Firefox. Now after the latest update to 4.0, all of the Latest TV images are Primary/poster and I see no way of switching them back. Can anyone tell me what happened and how to get my preferred view back?

A change to make it uniform across all the app/clients.  Currently there is no option to change this view presentation.

Thanks for that info, but I am very disappointed with that decision. One of my biggest reasons for dropping Plex was their removing customization features such as this, and basically telling their users to take it or leave it. I truly hope Emby is not headed in that direct too, especially for those of us who have supported them with a paid subscription.

I would really like to roll back to 3.5.2. I use Firefox to view the Home page multiple times a day to make sure my torrent PC is doing it's job, and I really can't stand that now I have a mix of portrait and landscape images. Is there an installer for 3.5.2 I can download?

It's not that we dropped a setting related to this, but rather, we never had such a setting. This came up a couple times during the beta and i think it is reasonable that we could add a setting for this. I would stay on the new 4.0 release and work with us as rolling back to 3.5 within the same installation is not supported. Thanks.

I think I'm having the same problem?  All TV shows and movies appear but the covers are gone and the backdrops are there instead.  Server log attached, screenshots below.

Additional screenshot below (movies on home screen).  Add'l FYI: using Emby Premiere on Windows 10 64-bit.  Plenty of storage space on main drive where Emby metadata is.

Just did a "Scan All Libraries" and the problem appears to persist.  I notice that I don't have the option to restart the Emby server in the dashboard any long (unless it has been moved), would this be an imperative at this point?

Had the same problem .

Did a full scan , then a emby reboot and all cool now .

Now if we could just have guide data in Australia ......

The restart and shutdown options are now under an icon at the top of the dshboard that looks like a standard power button symbol.

You guys were right on the money.  After the library scan I found the restart button and everything is right with the world.  Thanks a million!

I went through a lot of work to get the home page set up just how I like it and I really would hate to see all that time wasted. I posted several requests for help, and many people went out to of their way to reply, providing custom CSS and other tips that worked fantastic. I even went so far as to add several new cartoon series to my library just so the Latest Cartoon section became the same length as the rest of the rows (yes, that's how OCD I am about this). I'm willing to wait for another build as long as the images can be reverted back. In the mean time, I've stopped Emby 4.0 from running on this PC, and blocked server updates on my slower PC that still has 3.5 on it.

Not sure if the same problem but I've been having a similar issue for a long time, all my live TV images show in a portrait container but they are 16:9 images that are zoomed in to fill the container and looks ugly  :(

see images:

and what one of the images should look like

It also behaves differently in the scheduled section of live tv, instead of being zoomed in they are squashed which makes it look even worse

I appreciate that you'll look at adding a setting for this, as I do like some of the other changes and new features in 4.0 and would like to stay on the latest build. Others have posted screenshots of something similar, but for the record here's what my Home screen looked like on 3.5, then after the update to 4.0.

One of the problems is that older shows don't always have the wider screen versions of those graphics while they all have the portrait versions.

That can cause a problem and you end up with a mixture of portrait and landscape on the same page which doesn't always look good.

This is becoming less a problem as time goes on as more and more shows are getting the landscape versions

While it might make the programming harder this could be a good option so the admin could set portrait vs landscape mode and choose what works best for them and their media.  Easier said then done of course!

Just to get this on the record. I'm seeing a portrait view consistently across all TV views (GOOD):

except when viewing actor detail/Episode credits, where the portrait image is distorted:

Actor detail/Episode are the only distorted instances I've found in 4.x, so far.

EPG123 is configured to only pull portrait images from SD, via SWMC. This was my solution to forcing consistent displays in 3.x.

Update: Spoke too soon...

How is another users' recording images showing portrait images in a widescreen view whereas mine are wide images in a portrait container. Seems to be something really wrong with the detection of the aspect ratio of images?
