emuchris 0
I've got Emby for Android, however I find the quality setting doesnt work and it always plays directstream on my boxes, so I was wondering if its possible in any way to create an application using the web version of Emby? Does anything like that exist. Edited December 31, 2018 by emuchris

Maisy 35
I've got Emby for Android, however I find the quality setting doesnt work and it always plays directstream on my boxes, so I was wondering if its possible in any way to create an application using the web version of Emby? Does anything like that exist. In the Emby Android app it takes a bit for the transcode to start ... so for me with Stats for Nerds on, it first starts DirectPlay, then some seconds later starts Transcoding. As for that, the web version is nearly the same, but works that transcode out beforehand, right away. Also there is a volume slider on the controls bar ... which the Android Emby App DOESN'T have! I don't really care about downloading on my tablet, my main use for viewing Emby in the home server network. I find the web version uses way less power in my tablet, though it's still ridiculous compared to what I got out of Plex last year. The Android app uses so much of my battery, but it's not reported in Battery settings. Playing a download does take less battery to view than streaming, and also doesn't update Trakt.tv that I watched it. I don't like that at all. So I have both the App, and I use a shortcut to my server on my Home Screen to use the web app. With the Chrome Shortcut it's one click and I'm in and it pretty much works fine, though subtitles for some things are an issue lately. Last night I decided to watch a Lucas Arts film, 480p, subtitles were offscreen in Chrome, so I went to the Android App and all was fine, but when that not long, not high rip bit-rate movie ended, 48% of my battery was gone. What? Which is why I much prefer to use the Chrome App, it's just that I like subtitles to make sure I am catching what is being said, keeping the volume very low for many reasons, one of which is .... battery consumption! Luke 37994
The browser does not support as many subtitles as the android app, so there will be more transcoding there.
