lordbond 2
Is it possible to connect to my server over the internet with the Roku + MB3 client? I am wanting to set up one for my in-laws to be able to connect to my MB server. I am using a dynamic DNS service for the name lookup. I can connect with my tablets and phones. I just don't know if it is possible with the Roku.
Deihmos 147
It is possible. You just need to input the wan IP for the server on the roku app.
lordbond 2
Does it have to be the IP or can it be a domain name? Does it need the HTTP://?
lordbond 2
Well, I tried it today and it did not work. Has anyone been able to do this?
gcw07 347
Yes, you just have to enter your external IP address instead of the usual internal one. Or you can use a domain name if you have one.
lordbond 2
I have tried both name and IP and neither seems to work. It works on my Android and iPad apps.

arche 174
Sorry, missed that. Have you tried opening the panel through a browser from the remote location?
lordbond 2
Yes, everything works when I am away. IE, Android, iOS, Windows 8, wired/wireless LAN, mobile data, everything works except the Roku 3 with MB app
Happy2Play 8282
If all your other devices are able to connection remotely then your port forwarding should be good. I just followed this post and was able to connect to (xxxxxx.homeserver.com port 8096) without any issues http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/5583-roku3not-connecting-to-server/?p=80925 V1.17.
mediacowboy 438
I have done just your setup and it works. I used the exact same settings that I use to connect remotely.

Does client support different preferences per server connection eg. 20Mbs for local server and 1MBs for remote server?
