rene.teniere 17
I used to use theRenamer until it stopped working on Windows 10. Now I use TV Rename (TV shows) and tinyMedia Manager (movies) for proper naming conventions. Usually don't have issues unless it is a really obscure and hard to find series or movie. I guess that's why my transition to Emby from Plex was so smooth. I use iTunes Match for music, so no experience there...
rene.teniere 17
Oh I have and much to elan's dismay, I am quite vocal on the subject. Emby my NOT be exactly what I'm looking for. However, I've yet to detect any bit of arrogance from Emby's dev's or Emby users in any thread that I've read here. That in-of-itself is a point for Emby. In fact, I took a screenshot of my Emby Premiere portion of my server and posted it within a post of mine over there. elan removed it, editing in its place "removed obnoxious picture". Yeah, I'm a dick and.. I'm ok with that. Same here. Pi$$ed me off to no extent. I managed to get a $56.00 cdn prorated refund on my Plex Pass! Ridiculous when you start deleting people's posts. They deserve the bad press. I may invest that $$ into Emby in the new year after the bills are printed I have been telling everyone on the Plex forums to put their money where their mouth is. Get rid of Plex Pass, delete your account, and use Emby. That is the only way to let those people at Plex know the reality of the situation and force them to act and actually listen to the people. Fear of collapse when your user base pulls out. Maybe it's because I'm French and the revolutionary in me wants to stir things up??
Jack.Landrum 3
https://forums.plex.tv/t/suspension-of-use-or-uninstall-poll-with-effected-count/350352/5?u=jack_landrum Please add to the count if your Suspending or Uninstalling PLEX & have made the move to EMBY like I have.It is crazy how fast the numbers add up with just just 4 previously dedicated PLEX admins replying. I turned off the auto boot on PLEX after 7+ years and now EMBY alone auto boots on my server.
rene.teniere 17
Same here. I uninstalled it tonight and removed the app from all Roku and iOS devices. Kids could care less. “What happened to Plex daddy? Oh well, Emby is better”. Nuf said.
Chyron 221
I have not uninstalled Plex yet. I have an audiobook library in Plex that my wife and I use almost daily. So I can't uninstall Plex until Emby Server v3.6 comes out, assuming it has at least track-level resume for its new Audiobook library type. Lack of (multi-file) album-level resume would be annoying, but Plex doesn't have that either. Edited December 22, 2018 by chyron8472

pgalbavy 6
I'm slowly contemplating the full move from Plex. At the moment I run both on the same server with the same file systems but have "curated" the libraries on both by hand. On the whole they are the same. Now what I do have is a lot of watched/unwatched markers on TV series that for my own sanity I would like to try to retain. Has anyone dug deep enough into the DBs on both systems to see if, based solely on media file path rather than metadata, I can export/import a watched tag for my Emby user?Note I am not concerned about Films or Music, just TV stuff. Chyron 221
@@pgalbavy I believe the usual suggestion is to use trakt.tv. Set up the trakt plugin on both Plex and Emby, so it can sync your watched status.
davidkejzlar 0
Hi, I have also few questions before migrating from Plex to Emby and buying Premiere. Is Emby working well with Hauppauge tv cards, does it support dual tuners (live TV and recording at same time, more recordings at same time)? What about transcoding, also same, so if Plex is able to transcode 1080i HEVC (4-10 GB ts recordings from DVR) on Gemini Lake, will Emby also handle them without problems using Intel GPU accelerated transcoding? And last one, does Emby have recording profiles/options (like Tvheadend), or lacks any settings (like Plex) and recordings are just ts as received from TV card? thanks in advance
Luke 37064
Hi, hauppauge is supported on windows, and yes dual tuners are supported as well as gpu transcoding. We don't have recording profiles but we have a media conversion feature that can convert after new recordings are completed.
davidkejzlar 0
Unfortunately my Hauppauge WinTV-DualHD is not working with Emby. Drivers installed, works fine with TV apps in Windows, also Plex can see it, but Emby is unable to find it. H265 hardware transcoding also doesn't work at all, I get just "Undefined Render error:5" in client. I can can provide logs, if it can help to solve the errors. arrbee99 1560
Am not sure about your specific tuner but you might possibly need to install WinTV v8 or later. If thats installed already might be worth sending some logs. You could also try a plugin such as NextPVR. (Bear in mind I'm usually wrong about this kind of stuff...) davidkejzlar 0
Still Hauppauge WinTV-dualHD can't be found after installing WinTV 8.5. Same error "No new devices found. To add a new tuner, close this dialog and enter the device information manually." appears after schanning for tuner, see logs. HEVC transcoding still fails, also attached ffmpeg logs. embyserver.txt ffmpeg-transcode-1057c920-cd2d-496d-a815-40d1f32238c2_1.txt

davidkejzlar 0
Yes, installed latest Intel graphic drivers, monitor (HDMI TV) is connected to the PC and Emby is not started as service, but as program after Windows start.

Molly_kinetic 3
I'm having another look at doing a migration from Plex to Emby, this is the second time that I have seriously attempted it but there is one major snag that prevents me from using Emby.Tags. I have a plex library with ~4000 custom content videos that meta data cannot be pulled from some source online. This library is a mix of my own content for my business, youtube channel, security cameras etc..What I have done is manually add tags to them in plex to describe the content. If emby was able to get those tags and match them to the files then i'd switch over to emby now.Does anyone know of a way to achieve this?

Chyron 221
At present I am not finding a plugin for Plex that lets the you pull the metadata tags stored in Plex and output them to nfo files. The Lambda plugin does do something along those lines, but it looks like it doesn't quite do what you want. However, the github page for that plugin does say he is working on an "XBMC compatible nfo export" function.
