sowrov 0 Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Hi, Is it possible to configure MB3 to open a video file in VLC or at least open the containing folder in the default file explorer? TIA
ebr 15670 Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 You'll have to be more specific. "MB3" refers to a whole range of possible applications. Which one, specifically, are you asking about?
sowrov 0 Posted April 21, 2014 Author Posted April 21, 2014 (edited) HI ebr, Sorry I thought the forum subsection I am posting the question (server) would make it non-ambagious! Anyways, I am talking about MB3 - server for windows (the one you use from browser localhost:8096). And please let me know, it is possible to do it (opening with VLC) in other edition of MB3. Thanks Edited April 21, 2014 by sowrov
ebr 15670 Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Yes, the sub-section would indicate the web client but I couldn't be sure you realized that . The web client is not likely to be able to open any external players any time soon because it is designed to run across any platform (PC, phone, tablet, etc). Both MBC and MBT do allow external players although I would say MPC-HC is the one that has the best support/features.
sowrov 0 Posted April 21, 2014 Author Posted April 21, 2014 Ah! Thank you for the info. I already have MBC and I just configured it to open the file in VLC. Btw, What is MBC-HC? In the download page I could not find anything with HC.
ebr 15670 Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 MPC-HC is Media Player Classic - Home Cinema. An external player that we have the best support for in MBC.
Luke 40114 Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 i think we'll be adding support for flash and that will allow for more direct play options.

AdrianW 1055 Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 (edited) OK, I'm willing to give MPC-HC a try; where do I tell MB-C to call it instead of WMC? Open the MBC Configurator (it's a separate app that gets installed with MBC) - then look at the second to last tab "external players". MPC-HC works really well, and in conjunction with MadVR, it's possible to configure it to perform refresh rate switching. Edited August 18, 2014 by AdrianW
Luke 40114 Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 you still have to have vlc already running though, or whatever player it is that you want.

ebr 15670 Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 DLNA? We already have remote play-to functionality.
Debug Mode 2 Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 We already have remote play-to functionality. That's what I meant. Somehow it should be possible to play to VLC as client. It's so far working that VLC discovers the server. Accessing might need a few hours work.
