the1legend 45
I'm attempting to connect my Emby Server with Google Home. I already have Emby Server connected to Emby Connect (cloud icon next to my name in users). I have Emby Home enabled on my Google Home app. When I say "Hey Google, talk to Emby Home" I get the response, "Emby Home is not responding right now, please try again later". I think the issue is that I've had an Emby account long before Emby Connect came around and I login in with a user name and not an email address (unless I connect via emby.media). Even when connecting locally to my server via it's IP, I can log in by clicking my picture and typing my local username password, or via manual login, I can type my email address and my Emby Connect password. This tells me that the two accounts are valid logins to my server. Can someone help me understand what I'm missing here?
Angelblue05 4130
Hmm I thought I fixed this yesterday. I will check the logs. You are not doing anything wrong I believe.
Angelblue05 4130
Can you retry again? Thank you. Let me know the time you've attempted this.
the1legend 45
I'm off to work right now but I just tried at 5:27am CST and got the same response "Emby home isn't responding right now. Try again soon". I get the same error even if I go into Google Home on my phone and click settings, services, explore, Emby Home, and then Try it. If I tap Send to Device, the selected device will respond with the same error.
the1legend 45
@@Angelblue05 Hi, any luck in figuring this out? I've tried a few times in the past week with the same results and again just now at 4:12 PM CST. Is there anything that I can do on my end to troubleshoot? Thanks in advance for your time.
Angelblue05 4130
@@the1legend If what I'm seeing is correct, It's having a hard time reaching your server. I will fix the error, now that I know where the error originates from. But that still leaves an error with connecting to your server, I've sent you a pm regarding this. Edit: If you can test once more, to confirm it is resolved and you hear the proper error message. Thank you. mark-in-dallas 86
I tried to set it up many months ago, and never got past the "sorry Emby Home isn't responding right now, try again soon": message and gave up. I decided to try again today and am still getting the same message. I have found that if I say hey google talk to Emby Home, it will respond with Emby here, greetings" , but then any request I make is met with the Emby isn't responding message. mark-in-dallas 86
Just as an FYI, I saw something over the weekend that Google Home uses Emby Connect to communicate with Emby and requires a secure connection, so I setup a Dynamic DNS Domain Name with duckdns.org and a SSL Certificate with Lets Encrypt, and Emby voice is now working with Google Home. Carlo 4330
Yes you need Emby Connect for Google Home or Alexa use. If controlling other equipment you don't need SSL but to playback media on the device you need to use SSL. I'm going to be working on documentation for both of these in December.
