Tatankasa 0 Posted April 20, 2014 Share Posted April 20, 2014 I have server and the Windows Store app both installed on the same Windows 8.1 Pro w Media Center box, and the app will not connect. Tried using the IP, computername, and localhost "Hostname not recognized. Please check the name and try again". I can connect from the same box using internet explorer just fine, and I can connect to the server from my RT tablet with the Windows Store App just fine. Any suggestions? Thanks! Luke 37096 Posted April 20, 2014 Share Posted April 20, 2014 It's because windows RT apps are not allowed to communicate with servers on the same machine. it's just an artificial restriction imposed by microsoft. if you google windows rt loop back, i believe there are some workarounds that people have created.
