Luke, I think this change happened in 2.0.12. I was using 2.0.11 with no problems, and then I tried 2.0.13, which gave me that problem with the black window. Looking at 2.0.12 changes, I think is when this first presented.

I was basing it on that 2.0.13 has very few (seemingly relevant) changes. And 2.0.12 has fixes that appeared more relevant to a window.

Just upgraded to Emby 3.0.5 via autoupdate and now I have the very slow response problem.

 

When starting Emby Theater now takes 30-60 seconds to start and clicking on a Episode take another 30 seconds to open info, when video playing controls no longer work and only thing I can do is close emby. Before upgrade everything was only taking couple of seconds if that.

 

Away until Saturday/Sunday so will check back then to see if any updates on what I should do next.

I decided to re-install as everything so slow in theater

 

Now got the same problem as above, when emby starts it just a black box in the middle of the screen, and nothing happens. I deleted the C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Theater folder and reinstalled...

 

Any other folders I need to delete to give a cleaner install? No longer usable.

 

System: Windows 7 x64.

Hi, windows updates automatically and i’ve Just installed latest nvidea driver. Same just a black box when launching theatre.

Anything else I can do, are the other 2 posters still having issues or have you found a fix???

I'm using a workaround of running older version (3.03) directly from the download folder (no install) with a modification to config file: \config\system.xml

to set autoupdate to false:

 <EnableAutoUpdate>false</EnableAutoUpdate>

 

Otherwise you have to redo it every single time.

 

Waiting for permanent fix....

I'm still using the 3.0.3 version until there is a fix.  I may download 3.0.5 source and try to debug it myself.

 

As for my Windows 7 setup:

 

Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate

6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601

Core i3-2120 CPU @ 3.30 GHz

8.00 GB Memory

.NET Framework 4.7.2

 

Intel HD Graphics Driver: 9.17.10.4229

Just to give some more instructions, as if you were me, it took a few tries to get this right.

 

After you download 3.0.3, from https://github.com/M...theater-x64.zip

Extract to folder.

Then the first time you run Theater it will create the default folders in that location.

Close Theater

The config folder will now exist and you can edit the system.xml file and change AutoUpdate to False (Before you run Theater again or it will upgrade)

 

\config\system.xml

to set autoupdate to false:

 <EnableAutoUpdate>false</EnableAutoUpdate>

 

Thanks to the other posters for getting me running again.

If you double click near the top, does that maximize it?

I just started having this issue today, Windows 10 on my machine though. @Luke, double clicking where the top bar should be doesn't do anything, I have to force close the app from the status bar.

Ok this actually makes it sound network related, as if the app is just not loading. Can you please locate the main.js file in the installation, and change lines 13 and 14 to this:

    var enableDevTools = true;
    var enableDevToolsOnStartup = true;

Then start the app. There will be a debug console on the right, drag it over to make it larger, then please take a screenshot. Thanks !

I opened the app with the dev console, but this time the app is working lol. Would you still like a screenshot? If so, would you like me to expand both panels of the console, or a certain area? I'm only having this issue on my machine sporadically, not as often as it sounds like other users are having the issue.
