Lighthouse 2
Well, as seen on title, it seems Emby just does not / cannot read metadata embedded in the music files. I did library scan but no avail. Right now I am testing with mp3 and FLAC files, and both cases Emby fails to read metadata from them while other software has no problem reading them. Any possible cause for this? My Emby server is running in Freenas 1.12 if server OS can affect this issue. Also, it seems Emby cannot play mp3 files I converted from FLAC files. They were recorded by LAME with preset -V 0 (which means highest quality, variable bit). Emby says "No compatible streams are currently available". Is there any limitation on Emby regarding mp3 playback? Thanks in advance! Plus : I tested with other mp3 files, and it seems Emby does not play ANY mp3 files. That does not look right... Plus 2 : At least ogg vorbis and FLAC playbacks are perfect. I am only having trouble with mp3 playback. Lighthouse 2
Annnd suddenly ogg vorbis files no longer work, only FLAC files are working. I have absolutely no clue what's going on with Emby. Plus: So, I dig up the log file and this is what's causing the codec issue: Here is when it tried to play "Larger Than Life" by Backstreet Boys. /usr/local/lib/emby-server/bin/ffmpeg -i file:"/media/Backstreet Boys - The Hits - Chapter One - 07 - Larger Than Life.mp3" -threads 0 -vn -ab 384000 -ac 6 -id3v2_version 3 -write_id3v1 1 -y "/var/db/emby-server/transcoding-temp/2df54eefc7b26a74a31aa58e8ef83d34.aac"Shared object "libx264.so.152" not found, required by "libavcodec.so.58"Shared object "libx264.so.152" not found, required by "libavcodec.so.58" Wait, why is Emby transcoding plain mp3 file into aac file anyway? Is this even needed?, since such lossy-lossy transcoding results in lower audio quality. Also, if I read the log correctly, it seems it is trying to convert id3v2 tag on the original file into id3v1 format. Once again I am not sure if this is intended behavior. Luke 37064
How did you install the server?
Lighthouse 2
How did you install the server? Yes, I installed the server via plugin from Freenas 11.2 RC1 . The version is 3.5.0.0. Unlike older version, Freenas automatically created jail for Emby. That said, something may have been wrong with this plugin... This is actually the second installation. At first installation I could not even get into the web interface until I uninstalled and re-installed Emby. Sigh, maybe trying Freenas as server OS was not the brightest idea for me. Never used FreeBSD before. Only Windows and Linux. And this whole "OS as appliance" approach is not really smooth in practice, though its apparent simplicity does attract me much. I just read the link you posted. It seems that post is for 3.6.0.61 which is a beta version. I guess I can try re-installing Emby again and see if fixes it. But first I have to sleep for a while. Edit : It seems the conversation is indeed heading to OS-related problems. I would not mind if you move this thread into FreeBSD subforum at this poinit. Happy2Play 8281
I would assume it is related to this topic. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/64833-playback-does-not-start/ Also discussion here https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/61942-shared-object-library-not-found-for-ffmpeg-on-3602/ Edited November 10, 2018 by Happy2Play
Luke 37064
Yes it's going to be related to those two topics. Thanks.
Lighthouse 2
Thank you so much for the links. It looks like this will take quite a time. Well, learning always takes time that is. I will start with manually installing Emby instead of this plugin installation and see how I go.

Lighthouse 2
Latest beta 3.6.0.63 has updated libraries to hopefully resolve this for everyone. Thanks. Thank you. Though my plans are in halt because the SSD which Freenas was installed finally died. >.> It was expected since I read about the SSD that it is faulty and will die in a year or two... But instead, it died just a month of use. Oh well, at least it was super cheap. Will replace SSD this weekend, re-install Freenas then I will try everything again. For installing beta I have to manually install the package... From my limited understanding, I cannot install package directly to the OS itself, but instead to jail.
