sayschia 0
Hello, I have a problem when I try to play movies or TV Shows with my Galaxy S9 (Android 8.0.0) and the Emby App 3.0.21. I can connect to my server and and browse the movies. When I want to start a movie, the app goes in landscape mode and I see loading circle and nothing happens. If I try it with the mobile browser over the cellular network, than everything is working. I also have no problem with the app when I am connected to the lokal network. By the way: with my Ipad and the Ios app I have a similar problem. It is working on local network, but not on cellular network (But it works with the browser on cellular network) The server version is 3.5.3.0 You'll find the server log and the android log attached. Luke 37161
Hi, strange, there's nothing obvious here. Can you try lowering the in app quality setting? Thanks.
sayschia 0
Hi Luke. Thank you for the fast replay. I have tried it with setting the quality to 1 mbps and had the same result. My upload at home is 100 mbps. And if I use the browser on my mobile phone, I can play the movies in every quality. Android app seems to hang and ios app says that there are currently no compatible streams. I have also tried it with http and https connection. Always with same result. The lte connection has download speed of 80 mbps. Any other thing I can try?
Kimballslice1890 6
I've had similar issues, I found out there was an IP conflict with my NAS that I did by accident that was causing it. Also sometimes when this happens Ill reboot the entire host server and it usually fixes the problem. (I didnt read the log) If you are using a self-signed certificate, that could be your issue. I know iOS applications will not accept self-signed certs... or basically nothing will accept self-signed certs other than the android application (should prompt you to accept the SSL cert) and the web browser. sayschia 0
I rebooted the host server and my phone and still get the same issue. For https connections I used a certificate from Let‘s encrypt. Currently I have deactivated secure connections. So the andriod and iOS apps are using the http url. I can access my server and play movies via the phones browser on cellular connection. So i think in general it‘s working.

sayschia 0
My brother tested it with his XBox One via remote connection and everything is working fine. I put my moblie phone in hotspot mode and connected the iPad (with new app version 1.6.6) and got the same issue (currently no compatible stream available). Then I connected my galaxy s9 to the iPad's hotspot, also with the same issue -> when I try to start playing a movie I see the loading circle and nothing happens (I waited more than 10 minutes). I have plex installed parallel to emby and the same movie play in full quality with plex when I am connected to cellular network. So I think it's not depending on my provider. Any other thing I can try? To play movies from remote is very important to me.
Luke 37161
TMobile has some unique requirements, and plex might actually be routing your data through their remote servers in order to get around it. Is this over http or https?
sayschia 0
I tried it with http and https with let's encrypt cert. All with the same issue. My provider is Vodafone (Germany).
Luke 37161
Can you try with the web app? Thanks.
sayschia 0
Hi Luke, when I use the web app on cellular network, everything is working fine. I can stream 4K movies in Full qualitiy (with https and http).
sayschia 0
Same issue with another android (7.0.0) device when I am on cellular network. As I described, this also happens with my iPad and the emby app when I am on cellular network. There I get an error message: no compatible streams are available. If I try it with the safari browser (connected to cellular network) I can play everything (with transcoding and direct streaming). I have attached the server log files. Maybe they are more helpfull then the android log files as android app only seems to 'hang' and doesn't report an error. Edit: I got it to work with the apps on cellular network when I directly use the remote ip adress of the server and not the dns name. Do you have any ideas what the issue could be? sayschia 0
So finally it's working. I don't know excactly why... I tried another dyndns name and then went back to my myfritz dns address. Now its working on cellular connection with the iPad app and the android app...
