FordGT90Concept 61
User went to the recording folder, then into a program, then into a season (only one episode available) and hits play. Emby gives a spinning wheel that doesn't go away. He's tried signing out and back in to fix it but it doesn't. The only way to fix it is to reboot the Xbox. He did all of the above this morning and I believe the recording was this one: E:\Recordings\S.W.A.T (2017)\Season 2\S.W.A.T. S02E04 Saving Face.ts Server log attached. It has been happening for a few weeks. Edit: There is a lot of ffmpeg transcode logs that are 0 bytes. 39 of them between 9:07-9:09 am. Maybe related. embyserver.txt Edited October 19, 2018 by FordGT90Concept
Luke 37118
You had to reboot the Xbox? meaning you were unable to just close the app?
FordGT90Concept 61
The Inteset Remote we're using doesn't have the contextual button so it's difficult to close the app. That's why he reboots it instead. softworkz 3341
From the log I can see: Successful executions of ffprobe Successful executions of ffmpeg All failures are happening with a single file only: The Big Bang Theory S12E05 The Planetarium Collision.ts Most like this file is corrupt in some way. FordGT90Concept 61
That file is very corrupt as per this post: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/62524-improve-recovery-from-tuner-failures/?p=638375 The issue I'm after in this thread is the Xbox One S can't start playing a recording without restarting Emby/rebooting the Xbox. softworkz 3341
You mean you need to restart Emby Server as well? Could you please replicate the whole thing without trying to play a corrupt video?
FordGT90Concept 61
No, just the Xbox. He wasn't trying to play the corrupted video, he was trying to play: E:\Recordings\S.W.A.T (2017)\Season 2\S.W.A.T. S02E04 Saving Face.ts That was before and after rebooting the Xbox (same file twice). Edited October 24, 2018 by FordGT90Concept
FordGT90Concept 61
I asked if it was still failing to play today and he said yes. I also deleted the corrupted video so no one will try to play it anymore.
FordGT90Concept 61
This issue is still persistent: 1) Turn on Xbox One (it is set to power off). 2) Start Emby. 3) Log in as Lauren. 4) Try to start a recording sourced from Live TV. 5) See black screen. 6) Back all of the way out to the Emby sign out screen. 7) Power off Xbox One. 8) Wait for the Xbox One to completely power off. 9) Turn on Xbox One. 10) Start Emby. 11) Log in as Lauren. 12) Start recording sourced from Live TV. 13) Works as it should. log.zip
Luke 37118
Both tests were with the same file?
FordGT90Concept 61
Yup. The file doesn't really matter. Last time I reported it was a different file. Both are the same container/format.
Luke 37118
It is direct playing, right?
FordGT90Concept 61
Probably but I'm not 100% sure. There's a remux in the folder but I'm 90% sure that's a different program being remuxed.
Luke 37118
Unfortunately if it is direct playing, then a remux or transcode is most likely the only fix right now. We are using the stock Microsoft player and that means we have to accept it's limitations. We'd like to replace this with mpv in the future. FordGT90Concept 61
Why does rebooting the console fix it though? Would making the console sleep instead of powering off help?
Luke 37118
I don't have answers to those I'm afraid.
FordGT90Concept 61
It's worth a try anyway, I'll change the setting and see what happens... Edit: It was set to "Energy Saver" and I changed it to "Instant On." Edited November 14, 2018 by FordGT90Concept
FordGT90Concept 61
Changed it to "Instant On" fixed it. Some power saving feature probably doesn't get enabled without a reboot.
Luke 37118
Very strange. Thanks for the info.
