Emby can't identify movies with german Umlaute (ä/ö/ü) in filename

Hi,

not sure if the problem is linux related or affected the Emby server in general.

When I put new movies in my folders Emby recognize and identifies the movies automatically.

But movies with german "Umlaute" (ä, ö or ü) in the filename will not be scraped by Emby. Only a screenshot and the filename is used.

By using the option "Identify" on such a movie by hand, and entering the exact filename including the "Umlaute" (ä, ö or ü) in the title field, Emby find the movie and scrape all the information.

So, automatic identification don't work.

Manually identification do work.

Any ideas if I'm using some wrong settings in Emby?

Or maybe it is a problem with the linux os?

Or is it a server bug?

Emby Server Version 3.5.2.0

Linux Devuan Ascii (Debian Stretch based distro)

Kernel 4.18.0

Thanks for looking into this problem and, of cause, I will give you an example.

The file I used for testing are:

Ein Königreich für ein Lama (2000).mkv

These are the steps I've done to reproduce the strange behaviour:

  1. Restart the emby server
  2. Moving the test file into the movie library directory (and wait a little)
  3. Check the new movie in the web client - only screenshot is used for cover art and no metadata
  4. Using the item menu to identify the new movie with the exact filename (without extension) for title: "Ein Königreich für ein Lama"
  5. Chosing the right movie out of two sugestions

The log of these steps are attached. (HttpServer lines removed)

This worked for me on the first try with the latest code, so based on that I would suggest re-evaluating this with the next release of Emby Server. Thanks !

So, you refer to the upcoming 3.6.0 release of Emby server, I think. I've seen the betas for a while but would like to wait for the final release.

I will report back after upgrading to the next release.

Thanks for helping.
