Please bring back vote counts

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just reset my Kodi db from the Emby addon and noticed that the vote count for alle of my movies and tv shows is '0'.

I read the information inlcuding the rating itself from my nfo files.

The rating in both Emby and Kodi is correct.

Just the votes are missing.

So doesnt Emby sync the vote count anymore?

Thanks

I noticed it aswell, so I checked the .nfo's of the recently added media -> no more votes value. Older existing media have the infos stored in their nfo file. The metadata manager also has no vote counter in it. I'm not sure, but for me it seems that Emby removed this information (maybe accidently).

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't see votes in the emby webclient. It's not something I can fix if the server stopped collecting the data. Is it the case for everyone?

Emby apps are not using vote count, so we don't have a field for it in our database right now.

But they have been there in earlier versions :-/

I have a fix for this. Google "Light IMDB rating update kodi".

Its an early developed addon, but it does the job. I have centralized metadata setup on EMBY server side, and the addon works by grabbing the IDs somehow. So it updates all the ratings (movies and tvshows)!!

PS: I can also confirm that this problem (reported by the OP) is somehow recent. Previously I also had the votecount synced serverside to client side.

EDIT: Just check now, it doesn't work afterall.

It must be something in Kodi then? Because apparently Emby never had votes.

Emby has thumbs up count that could share the same data.

Pretty sure votes in Kodi is a scale of 1-10 for video content. Don't know how we would translate thumbs up...

maybe it was provided by skin helper?

I have centralized DB in EMBY Server, do you know if the uniqueIDs (from IMDB etc) are being stored somewhere? Or, for exemple, does EMBY for KODI addon stores those IDs that the server scrapes, on the KODI.db file?

Interesting.  I noticed the 'votes' being gone too (the number of people who voted for a given rating).  These must have been coming from some helper script - Emby doesn't have that field.

It's no Kodi, neither a Kodi addon issue.

I could swear that the field was available in the Emby database some version ago. I played with the vote count value and the metadata manager to investigate the bug of our (now fixed) Kodi sync addon. And it was synced in the past.

So -> The value option has just been dropped :) I can live with it.

As this topic is closed

I try it again after a year :-)

Please bring back fetching the vote counts, they‘re still provided by omdb.

They‘re very helpful to find popular/good movies, the (omdb) rating alone is not very helpful, if the movie e.g. has just 1000 votes.

You could also make use of them for your suggested movies feature.

Wouldn’t you agree that now with the loss of rt/metacritic ratings in Embuary, having the votecounts would be very helpful to find potential good/popular movies?

With this information you could e.g. create a smart playlist which only shows movies with a Rating >7,0 and more than 5000 votes.

Emby has and stores no vote count information that could be synced.

That was already answered in this thread.

I know, that’s why reopened the request again.
