rawdrewage 14
I am wondering if there is a way to preserve ac3 when converting files. Let me give an example. I recorded from live tv which created a .ts file containing all the audio and video including ac3, aac stereo and aac comment track. For some reason when I converted the file with Emby using TV 8Mb settings it chose to re-encode the AAC instead of just using the ac3 passing through with no conversion, or even the stereo aac with no conversion. Handbrake does this with what they call 'pass thru'. Is there any way to avoid the audio conversion and preserve the ac3 5.1? It's just a much better sounding audio format and definitely better than anything transcoded.. Just trying to figure out how to get the best conversion. Please feel free to get technical as I am an audio engineer well versed in video. Thanks for any info.
