Resume points not saving - vids being marked as watched

So I have two Emby servers, one local running on Windows and one remote running on Ubuntu. Both servers have the same library consisting of STRM files with the following text:

http://localhost:9988/default.py?mode=video&filename=xxx

If I playback a video from my local Emby server via Emby Web Client, resume points will save.

 
If I playback a video from my remote Emby server via Emby Web Client, resume points won't save, instead videos will be marked as watched.
 
I have two log files, one from the remote server and the other from the local server. I have played the same movie from the start, seeked forward and stopped playback.

In many cases this will work with strm but it isn't guaranteed. It depends on our ability to probe the stream for media info.

I see.

 

If I have the python script "defalt.py" that the STRM's point to running on the remote server, resume points will save. So I'm assuming Emby will attempt to only probe the machine that has Emby server running. Would it be possible to probe the client (localhost of the client, not the server)?

Apologies, I'll come back to that with a clearer description.

 

May I ask what media info is essential for resume points to save? The duration of the video?

Yes, exactly.

 

Gotcha. During playback the duration of videos display no matter if the video has been probed successfully or not. Not possible to relay durations to Emby server during or after playback?

The server does it's own examination prior to playing and if that fails then that will explain this. Yes in theory what you're saying is possible but only if the client plays direct to the remote url, and that doesn't always happen.

Would the following be possible, maybe as a fallback if the STRM can't be probed... Allow Emby Server to receive the duration of the video from Emby for Kodi. Durations show up in the Kodi log and display as a media flag for the movie before they are reset due to the Emby server lacking the relevant information.

 

Maybe this is already possible and the Emby for Kodi plugin just needs code to send the info to Emby server.
