Doctor Who (2005) Season Viewing Order

I have searched the forums and though I have seen some posts similar to this, I am hoping to get some recommendations or find the darn switch that will display these correctly.

My household loves Doctor Who...the new one...and as those who watch it know, there are Specials.  Lots and lots of specials.  I would like to know if there's a way to display something like "ALL" episodes, with Specials tucked away right where they need to be...whether it be between seasons or between episodes in a season.  If not "ALL", then at least have them show in Seasons, before or after the first and last episode.  For example...

Season 1:

1 Rose 3/26/2005

2 The End of the World 4/2/2005

3 The Unquiet Dead 4/9/2005

4 Aliens of London (1) 4/16/2005

5 World War Three (2) 4/23/2005

6 Dalek 4/30/2005

7 The Long Game 5/7/2005

8 Father's Day 5/14/2005

9 The Empty Child (1) 5/21/2005

10 The Doctor Dances (2) 5/28/2005

11 Boom Town 6/4/2005

12 Bad Wolf (1) 6/11/2005

13 The Parting of the Ways (2) 6/18/2005

Special Born Again (Children in Need) 11/18/2005

Special The Attack of the Graske 12/25/2005

Special The Christmas Invasion 12/25/2005

Season 2:

Special Born Again (Children in Need) 11/18/2005

Special The Attack of the Graske 12/25/2005

Special The Christmas Invasion 12/25/2005

Special Tardisode 01: New Earth 4/8/2006

1 New Earth 4/15/2006

Special Tardisode 02: Tooth And Claw 4/15/2006

2 Tooth and Claw 4/22/2006

Special Tardisode 03: School Reunion 4/22/2006

3 School Reunion 4/29/2006

...

12 Army of Ghosts (1) 7/1/2006

Special Tardisode 13: Doomsday 7/1/2006

13 Doomsday (2) 7/8/2006

Special The Runaway Bride 12/25/2006

Any way I can get it to display the Specials Inline?

Please!  Anyone's help can save me the insanity!

When you edit the metadata for your specials, you can set the series and episode that it airs before and even an absolute episode number if you wanted to.

Here is an example:

If you look between episodes 5 and 6 you'll see The Snowmen special. It is set to Air before Season 7 and before Episode 6. This puts it directly where it needs to be for continuity.

Just to pipe in here also make sure you have checked the option in the metadata to display specials within the season they are aired in.

Hmm I like this method better. I currently followed the original method for the special episodes (placing them into season 0), but I often rewatch seasons at a time and would rather watch the specials during the airing season than have to switch seasons to pick them out.

my metadata is and was all the same beside the localisation and it doesnt work :(

---edit---

ah oh wait now it suddenly works but i dont get why no metadata change just preceived a million times of server restarts and refreshing in the last days

Yogi, I think you are on to something...I will check that setting.  I am using Media Browser Classic on my HTPC (for the ease of my wife), but if that checkmark works across all clients then you might just be a lifesaver.

Wayne Luke and Yogi, my metadata downloaded from TheTVDB with the show order correctly.  The checkbox is also there.  Any other things I could check?  Any logs I can see if it's just not finding them?

Not much else I can think of at the moment,it looks like both Wayne and I have the specials setup in a Season 0 folder as per the TVDB.

http://thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=78804&lid=7

Is yours setup like that? Just thinking it might have something to do with it,but I don't reckon it will make much difference.

And then check the setting mentioned earlier.

Figured out the problem.  I don't know what changed, but I had to purge all xml, metathumb, jpgs (probably didn't have to do this one), pngs (prob not this either), and refresh the series.  They started showing.  it would be really really handy if there was a "purge metadata and refetch" option (Collection, Movie, and Series levels).  Heck, I would redonate for that...especially if it still remembered if it was watched or not.  In this case it seemed to keep the data so we just need buttons.  Thank to all for your help!

I found that Filebot would name a special episode as (for example)  "Doctor Who (2005) - 0xSpecial 142 - Last Christmas", and renaming it to "Doctor Who (2005) - 0x142 - Last Christmas [special]" seemed to fix it for me.
