linds1234 19
Hi All, I run the latest version of Emby Server in a docker. Host is OMV 3.x (Debian 8). I was curious to enable Hardware Encoding to lighten the load on the CPU when it's transcoding for external clients. With VAAPI enabled it only uses 6-10% CPU, without it's 75-90%. Problem is with VAAPI Hardware enabled, the video will constantly be artifacting. The CPU is a 2500K. Looking at the ffmpeg logs, it looks to be version 4.0.1 Any known fixes for this? Cheers, Lindsay
linds1234 19
Actually, maybe I'm just expecting too much. In this case I'm limiting the bitrate to either 3 or 4Mbit as my upload is 5Mbit at the moment. Tested media is ~5Mbit. Software encode handles 2-4Mbit OK, the difference is the quality of a software decode is consistently "average" at these bitrate vs a HW decode where the quality is good with blocky artifacts every few seconds if that makes sense. Might just be normal for HW encodes at these low rates.
