My emby server has been running flawlessly for a few months now. Unfortunately it has unexpectedly crashed the last two nights in a row. I've been having problem with cloud sync to both google and dropbox, but i'm not sure if that is related to this or not. I've attached my log files. I'm not sure if anyone can figure out why it's crashing.

NAS info:

Model: RS-3412xs

CPU: Core i3-2100

RAM: 4096 MB

DSM: 6.2-23739 Update 2

Since i posted this thread the issues has gone away...  <_<

Which shouldn't refrain you from answering the questions posted by the ones who tried helping you out. It would be useful for future reference. That's why forums exist, to help EACH OTHER, not just your own issues.

Sorry if my prior post wasn’t clear. Emby was crashing over night(3 or 5 days in a row). I posted the logs I could and before I could test the suggestion Luke made my issue suddenly resolved its self. I didn’t take any action the issue just went away.

Emby crashes every time Scanning one of my Libraries. Have uploaded Logs: "sendlogs_SPOCK_synology_apollolake_918+_20180916T180913UTC.tgz"

But, i have disabled Realtime Scanning. It crashes also when i manually start Scanning the Library...

Thanks to the Team.

Hello @@Brudertac

Thanks for running the logs utility, the issue is being caused by a crash in the Mono runtime. This looks a little unusual and is not being caused by the usual suspect of the real-time file monitor.

I'll need to look into this a little further. Are there any further details you can provide - anything you've changed configuration or system wise? When did it start, assuming it was ok before?

Luke, FYI...

Nice to hear that you found the Problem in the Log. Thats a good thing :)

I havent change anything on the System. I was on Vacation and did not use Emby for 2 or 3 Weeks..., so it is possible that Emby updated itself?

Hello @@Brudertac

Emby Server will not update itself, just to make that clear for anyone reading. The package can be auto-updated, but this is a DSM feature that has to be enabled by the end user.

Version 3.5.2.0 is the latest stable release.

From the start of the logs (2018-03-01), the first time this occurs is at some point after the package was started on 2018-08-13.

After this point it's happening quite frequently. One common reference I'm seeing in the stack trace are calls to DLNA and SSDP services.

Have you added any new media devices to your network recently?

Hi James,

thanks for making this clear. Autoupdate is not enabled on my Synology Box.

I have changed my DSL Router about a week ago. But i do not think that this is the Problem...

TV etc are the same. Also no Firmware Update on the TV or other DLNA Devices.

Can i do any other thing to Help?

Hello @Brudertac

Does your new router have any service discovery / UPnP features your old router didn't?

Have you enabled any other media services on your Synology box, e.g. VideoStation?

I can see DLNA requests that appear to be originating from the box itself, this has caused some issues in the past.

I'm not sure about that one. So much as changed about the databases in the next 3.6 release that it will probably be resolved anyway, but I'm not sure of what could be done in 3.5.2. This is just a guess though, but i bet if you were to repackage 3.5.2 using the netframework zip, then you probably wouldn't see this. But that doesn't support ImageMagick so that might not be an option for you.

Hi @@solabc16

No, the Router is just a new Version, with same Features (only some Phone Functions are new) and same Firmware as the old one.

I have VideoStation and Audiostation running. I can disable Videostation because this is not used but AudioStation i have to keep Running.

But, those two are running since or before i installed Emby on the Box, it never was a Problem.

I will disable VideoStation today and check this. For Testing i will also disable AudioStation.

So, i had disabled Synology Mediaserver, VideoStation, AudioStation and the Fritz!Box MediaServer. (Never used this one).

But Emby crashed again. So this makes no difference.

Hello @@Brudertac

Thanks for trying that out. It would appear something in the environment has changed, but rather than try to get to the bottom of it, the pragmatic approach is probably to get you onto an updated version of the package.

This will still be based on the latest stable, but take advantage of a number of other improvements we have been workings on.

Let me know if you're willing to try the updated version, and I'll take you through it via PM.

Hello @@Brudertac

Hi @@solabc16

Well, the new Build runs very good. It is notable faster. Browsing the Library on my LG TV is really better now.

I have made a short Test with Transcoding, but 4K Movies are very hard for my 918+. Synology say that it can handle one 4K Transcoding but i have no smooth Playback here.... (But, i do not need this on my TV, it can Play the Files without Transcoding....)

Playing Music also works fine. All was tested in my LAN. No access from external Location. (I do not use this currently)

best regards
