News series not recording

I just setup my Live TV on Emby.

I am trying to record the news series however it doesn't seam to work. It appears to only record 1 episode a week on a random day of the week. All other episodes are marked as not needing to be recorded. (Gray circle.).

I have tried multiple news programs at different times and on different channels with no luck. I thought it maybe something to do with recording a daily program, so I tried recording talk show series and that work just fine.

Any idea what could be going on?

I have opened up the series setting as much as possible.

Record:All Episodes

Unchecked: Don't record episodes that are already in my library.

Channels: All Channels

Air Time: AnyTime

Keep up to: As many as possible.

Nothing has helped.

The news is the only show that is currently being recorded so there is no conflict with another show.

Any ideas?

I am using Xml TV for my TV Guide

Running Version 3.5.2.0 of Emby.

Linux OS

HDHomeRun for Tuners.

Thanks

I wonder if the xml data is presenting them in such a way that they appear to be the same episode. can you find the xml for one that recorded as well as one that didn't record? Thanks.

Hmm I think you might be on to something, as there is very little information of each "episode" for the KSL 5 New at 10 compared to other programs that have the episode number. Besides the time I can't see any other difference between each showing.

But to answer you question,

This week it selected Wednesday the 8th (20180808220000) as the episode it will automatically record, the other weekdays were not recorded. I can't see any difference between them. Last week if I remember right Tuesday was the day it picked to automatically record. But that XML file has been overwritten.

I have tried to setup the record series in Emby to record everything no matter if it was new, rerun or has been recorded before, but it hasn't helped :(.

@@Catsrules, it thinks they're all the same episode due to having the same dd_progid, therefore it's trying to avoid duplicates. What this is is a defect in the xml data. Where are you getting this xml data from?

Ahh, interesting, the xml is being generated by Zap2xml. So I might need to look on that end of things, maybe I am using the program wrong or something.

Is there a way in Emby manually schedule a time?

This isn't a defect of the xml data. The program is just a generic description which can be identified by starting with 'SH' and the last 4 digits are '0000'. This is also the same ID the native Schedules Direct will get you (or should be). This is typical for local news programs and really the only thing you have to go by to help with recording is the fact each program has the 'New' flag set. So even though they have the same ID, each program is 'New' and should be recorded.

Hmm I changed the Zap2Xml to use tvguild.com instead of zap2it.com and now it is working. Not sure what the difference but here is the new list of each episode. As far as I can tell it looks very similar.

Thanks for the feedback.

The difference is this data does not contain any show id's. Without a show id, we just assume they're all unique and that's why everything is recording.
