Emby rocks on Fire TV - quick thank you - smart transcoder? :)

OK...

 

So I store my media on a Synology DS1812+ which has as slow CPU.

When the main volume is under heavy load, media will not play properly or at all under direct play. Most of my stuff direct plays and rarely transcodes FYI.

 

But with Emby on Fire TV, if the player detects a possible playback issue because my NAS is just really, really busy at the moment, it asks you if there is a problem (in my case, it isn't playing yet or is stuttering), so I say YES... BAM... a few seconds later it will start transcoding and magically fix the issue. I normally check the web UI dashboard and can see if the FPS will be OK to keep playing or if I should pause for a bit to allow the transcoder to work its magic.I just  look at the super smart red vs blue progress indicator mostly to see if the TC is ahead enough. BRILLIANT!

 

I wish this was on the Apple TV too. 

 

Just an awesome feature. It is saving my night so I can actually watch stuff while I am doing a ton of NAS cleanup, backups and replications which haven't been done in a long, long time.
