Server 3.4.1.23 - Localhost vs. IP Address

If i connect to my Beta server with

 

"http://localhost:8096/web/index.html#!/list.html?parentId=44543bb33f76684de06b56190e223348&serverId=393d783c30484015a24645f7844060b4"

 

i get what i expect - the Album of Photos - Deck Planter

 

However if i use the IP address of the server instead of localhost i get this

 

The only difference being localhost vs. IP address

 

You can see the basic links are the same in the screenshots

thats the problem the url is the same - the response is different

 

the url is using the same item id and server id

 

As i said the only difference is the first part of the url

 

I even copied the url to  to a new browser tab and tried it with the IP and without using localhost instead

 

result localhost works correctly the IP does not

I would guess its something to do with the index.html#!/list.html....

i figured out what the issue is

 

If you initially login to the server (via web browser) say by the auto start (launch the emby web app.....) or via the system try - by default it goes for localhost

 

Now try and access a web address in emby that uses "list.html" but with a ip address it will fail or provide weird results - see screenshot two - which is all the items in the system

 

This does not happen with "itemdetails.html" as an initial login with localhost is happy to move to using the ip address instead and you get what you expect as a returned page of results

 

 

 

However if you close your web browser and try again BUT use the ip address of the server rather than localhost - i.e. 192.168.1.56:8096/web/index.html - to access the server initially

 

then you can access a web page via ip address for "list.html" which would not work before and you get what you expect as a returned page of results

 

So there appears to be a difference between list.html and itemdetails.html in how they handle the localhost vs. IP address
