Greetings,

I'm trying to play a 10bit h264 Flac mkv video file with external ASS subtitles on my (relatively new and still shiny) Vero4k with OSMC/Kodi.

The Kodi add-on and Emby Server are up-to-date, and my Emby server is some old Win7 dual core intel CPU with 4GB.

The files in question is "s01e0 - Chou Kousoku Galvion - 01 [720p] [ARR].mkv" and "s01e0 - Chou Kousoku Galvion - 01 [720p] [ARR].eng.ass".
If I copy these two files onto the Vero4k I can directly play them, albeit in software but without any problems or stuttering.

If try to play the video file with the emby add-on, it needs to be transcoded. And when my little server tries to transcode such a 720p video file, not only does the picture quality suffer majorly, but it also comes with stuttering and occasional 1-5 seconds breaks. And that makes me sad :(

What can I do to make it play on my Vero4k box without copying it first onto it?

Thanks in advance :)

Here's the Kodi Log: kodi_25.06.00-43.log

If you search for "Galvion" you should first find the part when the video was started (and transcoded) with the Emby add-on, around line 239.

Later at line 357 I played the same files directly from /home/osmc/TV Shows/.

Also just in case this is only a malformed subtitle (though I had a quick look at it and couldn't see any problems) file here's the ASS file: s01e0 - Chou Kousoku Galvion - 01 720p ARR.eng.zip

And I forgot this to mention in my previous post, but this is the first time I have this problem with my new Vero4k box. All other 8bit and 10bit x264 or HEVC videos with ASS subtitles that I tried can be streamed directly from the Emby server without the need for transcoding.

Hope this helps and thanks for the effort @@Angelblue05 .

I think this is not working because of the device profile sent by the add-on. Let me see what I can do to fix this.

Thanks, now the Emby add-on plays the file without transcoding :)

And what do you think, should I try to make the people over at the OSMC forum aware of this? And if so, what exactly should I tell them?

Thanks again @@Angelblue05 , your work is much appreciated.

Thank you, glad it is working now. :) I'll be posting a new build to the repository later today when I have a bit of time.
