I've just moved my Mediabrowser server as I needed something beefier, almost all is fine, just this one problem.

Mediabrowser is not pulling mediainfo from some of my files, which results in the clients not being able to play them. Example - this file has the media info, and plays.

but this one doesn't:

As you can see, it's getting all the metadata and images no problem. just no mediainfo. On MPC on my PC it just hangs when I try to play it, but on the Android client I get the message "<Episode Name> was skipped due to missing media info"

I have tried a full uninstall and reinstall (remove all traces) and it's not made a difference. It's got to be something about the file if other's are fine, right? I installed mediainfo on the server and got the info from each file in the examples above, here's a link to a dropbox folder containing both of them and also a server log from the last scan (not much here as it completes in 5 seconds)

I'm sure some more info may well be required, just let me know and I'll post it ASAP.

Cheers!

I've had this happen when the server tries to probe the media while it is copying. Theoretically, a full library scan should fix these but it doesn't seem to do so. You need to go into the Metadata and refresh. If it is only a few items you can edit each item and refresh. If it is a lot of items, refresh at the Media Folder level.

Yes, like Wayne says, it definitely appears to be caused by the server trying to get the file info while the file is still being copied.  I have turned off  'Enable real time monitoring' and just do a manual scan after I add something or just let the scheduled scan pick it up.  Have had no issues since doing it like this.

Hopefully the real time monitoring functionality can be tweaked to not start the scan until the file has finished copying.

Thanks, it seemed to sort itself out after I deleted the file and re-copied it in, no amount of scanning or refreshing seemed to work before that  I do have another issue but I'll start a new thread for that :)

Rescanning definitely doesn't fix it.  Did you make sure you were refreshing all data?  Not sure if that makes a difference, but that is how I am setup and that has always fixed the issue of missing media info.  Maybe you had something else going on with the file.

I'm pretty sure there were some other issues at the time which confused matters, hopefully like Luke says this'll be sorted soon :)

The next release should improve this again.  Hopefully, we'll get to the point where this is a very rare issue - if ever.
