Define VLC as Video Viewer Default within Emby (Ver 3.4.10)

I am trying to understand how to set VLC as the default video viewer from within Emby - instead of the currently defined  Windows browser (either IE, Chrome or FireFox).  There seems to be some ability in the older versions of Emby Server, but in this new version, it does not appear to be available.

 

Is there a method to define the VLC Player as the default video player for streaming any Movie or TV Series from Emby Server?  Is there a possible plugin available?

Hi, web apps are not able to launch programs so this isn't going to be possible with the web app.

 

Most of our native apps do support external players though. Thanks.

Luke - thanks for the quick reply - just one question - is there a Native Windows Emby Server App that is available that is configurable for an external player?

But the internal player works so well I doubt you'll need to bother with an external player.

Luke - Yes, the player within the Emby Theater does resolve my issues.

 

One question - once it is installed, does this app require an Internet connection or will it work without one (aka Offline)?
