brett_1968 1
I had previously thought that emby was randomly deleteing movie files but had no proof until today. I did a 'search for missing metedata' on the Hot tub time machine collection and the server deleted the two movie files, but left the collection folder. Attached is the server log. Luke 37151
It's still not attached. If it helps, you can learn how to attach a log here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ Thanks.
brett_1968 1
I have zipped up the log file but it won't attach to the post, the file is ~ 16,7 MB and have tried from both Linux and Windows 7 machines using Chromium, Firefox and Edge browsers. Any Suggestions

Luke 37151
Thank you for taking the time to do this. I think you are referring to these statements: 2018-05-21 10:52:38.658 Debug App: Emby.Kodi.SyncQueue: ItemUpdated added for DB Saving 4f1ea0bf-bd28-446d-4063-b4139d909943 2018-05-21 10:52:38.668 Debug BaseItem: Removed item: /mnt/Storage/Video/Movie/HoT Tub Time Machine Collection [boxset]/HoT Tub Time Machine 1 (2010)/HoT Tub Time Machine 1 (2010) - [1040px1920.avc1 - BluRay].mp4 2018-05-21 10:52:38.668 Info App: Deleting item, Type: Movie, Name: Hot Tub Time Machine 1, Path: /mnt/Storage/Video/Movie/HoT Tub Time Machine Collection [boxset]/HoT Tub Time Machine 1 (2010)/HoT Tub Time Machine 1 (2010) - [1040px1920.avc1 - BluRay].mp4, Id: 5ffe6193-876d-19b6-3b98-8ace5e6f7d24 2018-05-21 10:52:38.668 Debug App: Deleting path /var/lib/emby-server/metadata/library/5f/5ffe6193876d19b63b988ace5e6f7d24 2018-05-21 10:52:38.728 Debug App: Emby.Kodi.SyncQueue: ItemRemoved added for DB Saving 5ffe6193-876d-19b6-3b98-8ace5e6f7d24 2018-05-21 10:52:38.749 Debug BaseItem: Removed item: /mnt/Storage/Video/Movie/HoT Tub Time Machine Collection [boxset]/HoT Tub Time Machine 2 (2015)/HoT Tub Time Machine 2 (2015) - [1080px1920.avc1 - BluRay].mp4 2018-05-21 10:52:38.749 Info App: Deleting item, Type: Movie, Name: Hot Tub Time Machine 2, Path: /mnt/Storage/Video/Movie/HoT Tub Time Machine Collection [boxset]/HoT Tub Time Machine 2 (2015)/HoT Tub Time Machine 2 (2015) - [1080px1920.avc1 - BluRay].mp4, Id: f510e58e-469b-d335-a6b1-2d7bee25966d 2018-05-21 10:52:38.750 Debug App: Deleting path /var/lib/emby-server/metadata/library/f5/f510e58e469bd335a6b12d7bee25966d What this means is that the server is removing those items from the database, not deleting the files. If i had to guess, something else must have deleted the file and this is just the server reacting to that. However I think you should update to the latest version of Emby Server and then let's re-evaluate after that. You can update manually by following the procedures mentioned here in posts #3 and #4: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/58613-question-about-my-32-bit-upgrade/?p=574032 Thanks. brett_1968 1
No I wasn't referring to the logfile, I was referring to what phsyically happened in the file system. The directories and files for the two movies where there, I did a refresh of the metadata, and the directories and files were gone. I have since done an audit of the file permissions and users and there are only two users that have write permission, emby and root. I find it very difficult to believe that something else deleted the directories and files, seeing as they were gone directly after I did a metadata refresh, and nothing else has write permissions. I'll look at changing to the new version, but does it still have problems with symbolic links?
Luke 37151
I would try the latest version as it's possible there was a defect in 3.3.1 although I don't recall anything that was deleting files like this. As far as symbolic links go, I'm not sure what you mean.
