Problem to access emby with https

Hello guys,

I'm aware that there are a lot of topics about secure remote access to emby.

Unfortunately, after hours of research, i'm still blocked with this problem.

I installed emby-server on my Raspberry-Pi 2, no problem to connect, play music and watch movies.

But my goal is to access my emby when i'm not at home and i'm not able to connect to it securely.

By http there is no problem by the way.

A strange thing i "discovered" was this message "emby is executed on http port 8096." only, it seems that it can"t even access to my https 8920 port.

What i did:

- created an SSL certificat with Let'sEncrypt

- took a DDNS on no-ip

- opened my ports on my router (uPNP find the ports 8096 and 8920)

- opened ports 8096 and 8920  with ufw (tried with ufw enabled and disabled)

I don't know if it matter but i have a owncloud server running on the same raspberry, i can access it by https with no problems througg https://mydomain.com/Owncloud.

I have the famous error log :

2018-05-20 17:09:56.836 Error App: Error loading cert from /etc/ssl/emby.pfx

But i did watch a lot of topics and videos when people used to get the message

"emby is executed on http port 8096 and https port 8920" without setting any DNS/SSL before.

i hope i was enough clear, i'm new on emby and a little bit lost ^^.

Best regards

I am sorry to post again but i am still blocked.

I really can't figure what the problem is, especially why my port 8920 isn't showed in emby :

i assume i'm a little bit confused with port forwarding and how to set my access through my domain name.

Thanks for help.

Hi Luke,

Thanks for your answer, to give you a little update, i'm now unable to connect to my server via emby connect.

I get this message:

even if i add it manually. However i can connect from web browser with the IP.

Thanks for your help.

If https is not working then you'll need to make sure that it's fully turned off for now.

Ok, as far as https I would suggest trying again with the next release of Emby Server, thanks.

How are you trying to connect locally? What exactly is not connecting?

I just bought a new SD Card to perform a fresh installation, when speak about the last release of Emby Server, you mean the "emby-server-deb_3.4.1.0_armhf.deb" one ? (Just to be sure)

For the access problem, i'm unable to reach the http://localhost:8096. I restarted the service and was able again but few hours after it did the same problem again.

Thanks for your answers and i will give an update when the installation on the new SD Card will be finished.

After a fresh install, emby is still running only on 8096 :

That is http. I would suggest retrying https with the next release of emby server. Thanks.

I mean the next release that hasn't been released yet. Your server dashboard will alert you when a new release is available and you can also follow our blog for announcements.
