delenda 2
I access my emby instance locally at home using 10.0.0.9:32400 and when I'm outside of the home I go through my nginx reverse proxy at https://plex.mydomain.org/. I am unable to switch between these easily because they have the same name in Emby's view and must wait for a time-out before typing in a different address/port combo and logging in. Plex has a feature called "manual connections" whereby it will preferentially choose an IP you provide it. This would be a nice addition so that by default I can go through the HTTPS and when at home it will save my router a hop.
Jdiesel 1114
What is the benefit of not accessing the server through your domain name when on your local network? How is your DNS setup?
CBers 6771
Just add another "server" to nginx. You'll need to create another subdomain for Emby. That's how I have Plex and Emby accessible via nginx external to my home.
delenda 2
@@CBers plex.domain is only the url, I stopped running Plex. I apologise for the confusion. @@Jdiesel I am unfortunately behind two routers that don't offer this functionality of hosts file editting.
