Collections - multi language libraries

I have recently updated to the latest, 3.4.1.0, emby version and I have an issue with collections folder.

If I remember right, in prev. versions of the server, the collections had the same language as the library they were in.

I have libraries with 3-4 different languages, and using the latest server the collections info is all in English.

It would be great if the Collections would respect the library language. (I have not set a default language for the collections library)

What do you think? Can it be done?

Eg: https://i.imgur.com/lvMiTyC.jpg Collection in English, movie and movie info in library language.

Collection in Hungarian: https://www.themoviedb.org/collection/110127?language=hu

Hi.  Collections are global and can contain items from any number of libraries.

Perhaps we can have a way to set the default language on the collections library itself now though.

You already have that, but I think if it's not set, it defaults to English. https://imgur.com/njxqrVv.jpg

What I would like to see is that if a library has movie collections in language X, the metadata for that collection to be in language X. Just like before.

Yes, the default is English if you don't set a different one.

And, if the collection contained three movies in three different languages?

Then it shouldn't group them in a collection.

It would be great if you could enable or disable collection grouping.

Eg, some people like having a single collection with all the movies, regardless of language, but some, like me, would like to have them separately so that friends and family members who don't speak English could also enjoy using the collections, in their native language.

You have complete control over the contents of your collections...

Well, not really, because in my case it doesn't fetch collection info in the same language as the library language...

Or is it possible to create a collection folder for each library that I have?

That doesn't have anything to do with the contents of the collection (the items within it).

You said:

In response to my example of a multi-language collection.  And my response is that what collections you have and what is inside them is completely within your control.  If you don't want certain movies in collections, then you can remove them (or manually create the ones you want in the first place).

I meant that if i have 2 movies in language X and the same ones in language Y it should give me the option of creating two separate collections with info in language X and Y and not group them in a single one.

OR, it would be nice if I could manually create collection folder/library and there I could specify that from movie library in language X I want the collection info to be in language X and do the same for language Y.

I guess you are talking about the AutoBoxSets plug-in...?  I think that is probably a very rare need so not sure that type of thing will get in there.

But, again, you can create whatever collections you want and not create ones you don't  via the normal web interface.  You have complete control over what items are in collections.

OK, but then how do I set it so that for some movies it downloads the collection info in English and for some in other language?

Because, as you could see in the first screenshot, it created an English collection for two movies in Hungarian.

So I have the info from this: https://www.themoviedb.org/collection/110127?language=en instead of this: https://www.themoviedb.org/collection/110127?language=hu

BTW, how do I force it to update collections? I still only have one item in the collection, but I do have "TheMovieDb Collection Id" for a lot of movies.

The AutoBoxSets plug-in just fills in the "TheMovieDb Collection Id" right? Or is it no longer needed with the latest emby server?

Hi, try exploring the metadata editor. You can customize the download language on a per item basis, including for collections.

No when metadata is fetched for the movies it gets the collectionid and the plugin reads that ID to make the collection.  So if the media doesn't have that ID in metadata it will not create the collection.

I installed an older version of emby (3.3.1.0), for some reason I thought that older versions had the collections separately, but I was wrong.

This: https://i.imgur.com/4UjwWcB.png is why I think that it would be nice to have separate collections for each library/language. As you can see the Hungarian and English movies are in the same collection and only have the English collection description.

So, create the Hungarian collection yourself and add the movies you want to it. Then remove them from that collection.

If you are going to keep Auto Box Sets installed, then remove the collection IDs from the Hungarian versions and lock them.

No, not really... I have ~ 50 Hungarian collections, and about 250 English ones. Putting them manually in a collecton is just too much time...

This is why it would be nice if emby would create separate collections for the movies in Hungarian and English.

Plex can do it, but overall their collections implementation is much worse, they don't download any metadata for the collections...

It's always possible for the future, it just hasn't come up before until you just mentioned it. Thanks.
