bennymac 47
Hi, Roku seems to have updated today v3.0.74 and some Home Screen bits seem a little out of wack. - The posters in Latest Movies seem ever so slightly squashed compared to .6x versions (not tall enough) - Also in Latest Music, if an Music Album only has the default Emby Icon graphic (no album art), it too is squashed. (not square) I've also noticed that the Roku's doesn't have the same priority as the Web client - for TV Shows. For instance, the Web client will display the thumb.jpg (which typically have a nice text+graphic for a TV show, If no thumb.jpg exists then it will use background.jpg. After that it will show an episode screen grab. However, the Roku seems to use the thumb.jpg only, then it skips to an screen episode grab. It misses out on the backdrop.jpg completely. Can this be changed to match the Web client? Thanks.

bennymac 47
Exactly where are you talking about here? On the Home Screen, for TV specifically the Latest TV and Next Up TV rows. Edited April 10, 2018 by bennymac

bennymac 47
Can you show a screenshot to demonstrate? thanks. Sure, excuse the quick rush, but see below. The first image is of my TV running a Roku shows that Screen grab images for TV "Good Girls" and "Instinct" and for some reason "Bachelor in Paradise" shows the folder.jpg even though thumb.jpg exists. The Roku does this when no thumb.jpg exists, even though there is a backdrop.jpg. It seems to skip the backdrop for some reason. From memory the "new" Roku app has always done this... You can also see 2 albums in Latest Music that display the squashed default icon. With the Web client it always shows backdrop.jpg as a secondary IF no thumb.jpg exists. Thanks heaps. ebr 14921
Okay, this is just another situation of the Roku app supporting variable width content where the web app does not. A single episode shows a thumb or episode image if no thumb exists and multiple episodes show the Show poster (because you are actually looking at a show). The Roku app does not fall back to a backdrop in those instances though if there is no thumb. This is primarily because backdrops are quite large and would need to be re-sized to be used in the interface and the Roku already has trouble with large image data. We could potentially look to add backdrops as a fall back in the app in the future - as long as it performs okay.

Yeh the Roku displays usual Thumb images perfectly, it just skips the backdrop under those scenarios you mentioned, but otherwise it's fine. Be great if it didn't a some stage.
