Guest asrequested
I'm glad you guys are looking into this, the last release playback quality leaves a lot to be desired. It sounds like you're looking at the right areas. I'm not sure if I can help with testing, it sounds like you have it figured out at this point. But if you need another PC perspective let me know and I'll try to help. I have two Intel i7 desktops with nVidia GTX770 and GTX970, as well as an i3 laptop with integrated graphics. It would be great to see these fixes integrated into a released version someday. Actually, I'd like to see how this works with an Nvidia GPU. Can you try it? vf=d3d11vpp=deint=yes:interlaced-only=yes:mode=adaptive

Guest asrequested
Deinterlace off, and try both CUDA and D3D. Auto HWA should always set D3D.

Can you try it? vf=d3d11vpp=deint=yes:interlaced-only=yes:mode=adaptive It works great! Smooth on both progressive content and 1080i Live TV. GPU usage is lowest at 22% with CUDA copyback, highest at 60% with AUTO or AUTO copyback. This is with an i7-6800K and GTX-770. Will try the other PC shortly. Guest asrequested
And it deinterlaced correctly, when set to CUDA? I was expecting that to not work. Although, you used Cuda-copyback, so that may be allowing the use of other filters.
Guest asrequested
And you did remove the other deinterlace config from the mpv.conf?

And you did remove the other deinterlace config from the mpv.conf? This is my mpv.conf file: log-file=C:\Users\User1\AppData\Roaming\mpv\Theater mpv log.txt vf=d3d11vpp=deint=yes:interlaced-only=yes:mode=adaptive

Luke 37112
Would it be better to open a ticket with mpv to suggest this as default behavior?
Guest asrequested
Would it be better to open a ticket with mpv to suggest this as default behavior? It used to be. They've only just made this change. The release version still has the original, but you've used shinciro's build, which has the new changes. I posted the change, in mpv testing thread. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/46763-theater-mpv-test/?p=551023 I don't think they'll just switch it back. It won't affect me personally as I don't yet have HDR, but does mean more work is needed to get this all straightened out.

This is an mpv, issue. I have reported it https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/issues/5861 But I think it's going to be ignored.
