computerprep 148 Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 I just ran across as movie with pointless chapter image extractions. The chapter markers happen to sit on almost 100% black or white pics for the first 3 chapters. This could happen at custom chapter points or the default 5-minute marks. Any chance the chapter image extraction could actually assess the image it extracts for variation in pixel color value? For example, if there's < 10% color variation on a standard RGB scale, then have ffmpeg extract an image from timecode 10 seconds later.
Solution Luke 40077 Posted March 20, 2018 Solution Posted March 20, 2018 We already do. I think we have it set right now to grab 20 frames for each one and then it picks the best one. We've increased and decreased this number over the years. A higher number of frames improves the output, but also causes it to take longer so we end up having to deal with complaints over that. 2
computerprep 148 Posted March 20, 2018 Author Posted March 20, 2018 Cool. I wonder if those settings could be adjustable somewhere, for people with enough processing power.
