black screen during playback

i was using my laptop to connect to a hdtv via hdmi connection and stream through the web address with a hardwired ethernet cord. the movie starts playing fine but after 10mins or so of playing, the screen will go black and would only return once i move the mouse pad but with no audio. i would have to scroll to a previous scene just so the audio resumes along with the video. this constantly keeps happening and i dont know how to go about fixing this. it basically seems as if it goes to a temporary sleep mode. if i have the movie stored directly on the harddrive of the laptop and do the same setup, it does not happen at all. i only get this issue when i try to stream off the web. what settings need i change?
