Luticus 13 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I have a request that I'd like to see implemented if possible. In Emby's settings in a user account, I've noticed that you have the ability to enable file download. It would be really nice if you could also set up a check box to to prevent streaming, so that downloading is the only option. This would be useful in the case where you have limited bandwidth or cpu power but still wanted to share collections of media with a remote family member. This way they could download it, but not stream it.
Luke 39648 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Hi, you're aware the download feature will still consume the same bandwidth, right? The only thing it will really save is CPU.
Luticus 13 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 (edited) Yes, I'm absolutely aware. The difference is that someone who downloads it does so, hopefully only once. In my case though it's the CPU that I need to save. I run Emby in a vm with a lot of ram and cpus which does well but I have a gigabit internet connection. So it is exactly the cpu time that I'm worried about. Edited January 29, 2018 by Luticus
