So the mpv folder in roaming was empty.  I copied the conf file into the root of the mpv folder.  Is that right?

OK, in your video settings, select 'Enable video display syncing' , 'Enable Interpolation' , 'Temporal Axis scaling method = oversample' and your audio set to stereo

and HWA to auto

Ok, did all that but still plays choppy. Keep in mind I'm playing the file from my laptop wirelessly.

I'm going to have to all it a night.  Gotta get up early for work.

I appreciate the effort.  If you need more testing I can do so tomorrow as well.

Ok, next you can try this. Clear out your mpv.conf, except the logging. Then add this.

hwdec=auto
video-sync=display-resample
interpolation=yes
tscale=oversample
display-sync-active

In Theater, in the audio settings deselect all audio passthrough. Set HWA to auto, and all other video settings to default/auto, and play your file.

You can also try it in the standalone.

Using the standalone of ET or the installed version it still plays choppy.

MPV alone, just crashes after a few seconds.

Luke, it might be a good idea to add this in the stats. It will show up as DS to show that display sync is actually being used.

display-sync-active

Remove that from the mpv.conf for theater, and enable opengl hq in the settings, and try again.

You mean from the mpv.conf in c:\users\me\appdata\roaming\mpv?

I"m getting confused to which Emby I should be running, the installed version or the standalone version?
