sscheib 11
Hello everybody, recently I've been updating the metadata of some series, which Emby wasn't able to identify itself. So I went to each show and pressed on the tree dots -> identify -> selected the proper show. The problem with this process is, that one can't see that Emby is currently processing a show from the webui. All you can do is to look at the logfile and see if it is processing metadata or not - and even there you cannot determine which series is actually processing. Please take a look at the following log lines: 2018-01-27 16:04:23.076 Info ProviderManager: Saving image to /var/lib/emby-server/metadata/library/70/700cd357d625c9e676309423180958b4/tvp-laworderny-s12e21-xvid.jpg 2018-01-27 16:04:23.086 Info ProviderManager: Saving image to /var/lib/emby-server/metadata/library/26/26d0c5e7a730d8235d8b6dd626ed874a/poster.jpg 2018-01-27 16:04:26.568 Info HttpClient: HttpClientManager POST: https://api.opensubtitles.org/xml-rpc 2018-01-27 16:04:27.874 Info HttpClient: HttpClientManager POST: https://api.opensubtitles.org/xml-rpc 2018-01-27 16:04:28.888 Info HttpClient: HttpClientManager GET: https://www.thetvdb.com/banners/episodes/75692/4076993.jpg 2018-01-27 16:04:28.902 Info ProviderManager: Saving image to /var/lib/emby-server/metadata/library/71/719a453a798c712d015b5375d3beb40d/tvp-laworderny-s12e22-xvid.jpg 2018-01-27 16:04:28.912 Info ProviderManager: Saving image to /var/lib/emby-server/metadata/library/38/389a66cf4d45d5108e1930f4f962ea71/poster.jpg 2018-01-27 16:04:32.407 Info HttpClient: HttpClientManager POST: https://api.opensubtitles.org/xml-rpc 2018-01-27 16:04:32.504 Info HttpClient: HttpClientManager POST: https://api.opensubtitles.org/xml-rpc 2018-01-27 16:04:32.620 Info HttpClient: HttpClientManager GET: https://www.thetvdb.com/banners/episodes/75692/4076994.jpg 2018-01-27 16:04:32.637 Info ProviderManager: Saving image to /var/lib/emby-server/metadata/library/fb/fb36490724c093391ea8cd550e3e92bf/tvp-laworderny-s12e23-xvid.jpg 2018-01-27 16:04:32.648 Info ProviderManager: Saving image to /var/lib/emby-server/metadata/library/55/5538518edb8eb2877b2f25996f3833a4/poster.jpg 2018-01-27 16:04:36.055 Info HttpClient: HttpClientManager POST: https://api.opensubtitles.org/xml-rpc 2018-01-27 16:04:36.978 Info HttpClient: HttpClientManager POST: https://api.opensubtitles.org/xml-rpc 2018-01-27 16:04:37.173 Info HttpClient: HttpClientManager GET: https://www.thetvdb.com/banners/episodes/75692/4077620.jpg 2018-01-27 16:04:37.190 Info ProviderManager: Saving image to /var/lib/emby-server/metadata/library/d9/d93658de4faf74befbbf54551368fd4f/tvp-laworderny-s12e24-xvid.jpg 2018-01-27 16:04:37.205 Info ProviderManager: Saving image to /var/lib/emby-server/metadata/library/a4/a4b37f0345f4f87da65340b3f82234b1/poster.jpg Sure, one could go ahead and check the image Emby downloaded to see what it is processing (in this case even the filename states which show it is, but this is a coincidence), but this is far from user friendly. I could think of a simply visual indicator (like an exclamation mark or a rotating circle, etc.) on the shows it is currently fetching metadata for. I understand, that making an estimation on the progress (like time or a progress bar) is not reliable as Emby probably does not know how much images/data it needs to process until the end - but such a visual indicator would really help in my opinion.
