i know that AppleTV 4K does not Direct play TS, but should it Direct stream ?, i have attached a log of trying to play a recording that is transcoding, can anyone say why ?

Reason for transcoding:
Container not supported
Video codec not supported
Audio codec not supported

can TV not de-interlace it ? it should be able to.

The device may be able to.  We'll have to do some testing.

whilst i'm on is there no way to get the server throttle the transcode, atm it seem my Xeon NAS goes full throttle until the full file has been transcoded, i'm use to plex , it only goes full throttle until a user set amount of secs has been transcoded, then it jus keep transcoding the amount ie 120 secs, this keep the cpu and fans at minimum

We used to have throttling but it did not work well in all instances so, for now, it is disabled.  May return in the future.

ok thanks, how about setting a CPU thread limit for a user then?

We already have that.

where? i can only find common thread limit not a limit per user, i admin wants all available threads, i but would like to limited say user John to only have 1 thread, so it does not tax my cpu for hours

i can only find this

which is not what i am asking for.

atm emby is using 100% of my cpu until the full file has transcoded, imo this is not good, it should only transcode the segment AS it NEEDS to.
