jnrfalcon 1
Just switched from Plex to Emby. I'd like to know if Emby support transcoding on my device. Specs as follow: Dual Core 1.5 GHz STM STiH412 CPU; Dedicated Mali 400 for transcoding with DS Synology claim capability of transcoding 4K but only 1 stream I guess. Which transcode mode should I use?
mikeraburn 60
I have the exact machine. I have never seen or even looked in "transcode mode". I don't do 4K. In the server ADMIN\Transcoding\Hardware Acceleration\ I believe that our model isn't supported. I would just leave everything as is and see what happens. At least that way you will have a starting point to resolve what you see as an "issue".

But it is still good to know that I am capable in the future. Nether Plex or DS video works good for me... Plex always want to use transcode when it's not needed, which result in failure. And DS video also always transcode which is not needed and result in poor quality... I was using the poor FTP server on my router before I got the NAS for Christ sake, and I never had a hiccup back then...
Luke 37099
It should be able to handle some light transcoding. We have not done anything to prevent you from being able to transcode if that's what you're asking.

I'm sure I don't have those other hardware unless somehow Exynos driver can drive that Mali 400 I have... For right now, I don't really need transcode because the highest bitrate file I have is slim enough to fit through my Internet. I'm simply exploring the potential my DS216play may have when working with Emby.
Solution Luke 37099 Posted January 17, 2018 Solution Share Posted January 17, 2018 Right i see. Our ffmpeg builds include VAAPI so that's what you'll want to use.
