jasondeb17 1
If I connect to a my live tv (HDHR) from my Nexus 9 tablet Emby sends it through as direct play and I can pause/resume, etc. If instead I record the live tv and then playback the recording (.ts) then transcoding is happening. my device and network can support the original content format since I can play live -- so I don't understand why transcoding is happening for recorded. Emby Theater on Windows 10 plays the recorded TV back with no transcoding happening (screenshot attached). server-63645910866.txt ffmpeg-transcode-b1a36b27-67e0-4deb-b0b7-11650538fef1.txt
Luke 37133
In the android app we use libvlc and it has difficulty seeking .ts files so that is why we remux them on the server.
jasondeb17 1
Ugh. OK. I guess I'll have to plan for transcoding capacity for 'droid tablets. I'm trying to ensure I can direct play most of my content. I find the Wiki page incredibly misleading for Android Mobile -- as it clearly lists .ts as 'Direct Play'. This lead me to believe I was doing something wrong with my configuration. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Android%20Mobile
