add additional quality options for playback?

Hi,

 

While playing, you can choose different resolution/mbit options. I noticed that 1080p/6mbit looks a bit blocky. 720p/4mbit is a bit less blocky, but I guess 720p/6mbit would look even better. Is there a way to add this combination? Because for me, 4 mbit is the maximum for 720p.

 

 

and maybe on a related topic: I have theoretically 10 mbit of upload, in reality it is more like 8.5 mbit. Is emby buffering its transcoded output? Because, If I put the quality on 8 mbit, I sometimes get some lags, which are probably coming from an unstable upload speed. Sometimes it falls down for a very short time, but apparently it is noticeable.

 

It would be great im emby would buffer something like 2 minutes

Well, can your server handle the transcode task?  I have no lag when my bitrate is set properly based on my up speed and server specs.

In the web app the browser video player manages the buffer, so yes, there is a buffer.

I think so. 1080p 6mbit runs fine, so 720p 6mbit should also run fine. In my opinion, less blocky and upscaled by the browser looks better than original resolution with block artifacts.
