Multiple Artist Entries

So I have my Music Library folders set up to follow the recommended convention:

 

Artist\Album\Song

\Music
   \Artist Name
      \Album Name
         1- Song.mp3
         2- Song.mp3

 

However, when I purchase albums from an online service (e.g. Xbox Music), these get stored in the Music Library following the convention used by the online service. In the case of Xbox Music, this means that all purchases end up as:

 

Xbox Music\Purchases\Artist\Album\Song

\Music

  \Xbox Music

    \Purchases
       \Artist Name
          \Album Name
             1- Song.mp3
             2- Song.mp3

The result is that I will have examples of two folders having the same Artist Name. Then when I use an MB3 client, or the web browser, I see two entries for an artist who has a folder in the main music library and in the Xbox purchases section.

 

I note that this duplication does not occur when I use Windows Media Center to browse my music collection, presumably because it is using Album Artist metadata to build up the artist list. Is MB3 just using folder names to build up the artist list?
