ebr 14913 Posted August 9, 2017 Share Posted August 9, 2017 One of the issues with this is that most devices do not use that paradigm anymore (although Android is implementing it now to some extent) and most of the remote controls for the devices do not even have a 'stop' button on them. If you don't stop the video when backing out, there is no way to stop it... So, in apps like Theater (and Android TV to the extent allowed there) we can probably do this but as a normal operation I fear it will cause confusion since the standard practice now is "back out to stop the video". No matter how cool it might be to come up with some different way of doing it, that just would confuse people who are used to using the device with every other app. Specifically, for Android TV, there is a new Picture in Picture mode that allows you to basically do what you are asking. It does not use the back button though (as that backs out and stops the video). Instead, there is a special button on the OSD to enter into PiP mode. We will be looking to implement this in the future but it requires 7.0 so that limits it to the Shield and NP right now I believe (who knows if the Fire will ever get there - it is still on 5.1). 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
