I am guessing this is a parental control problem, but I don't know why a PG movie isn't visible to a user with  PG-13 limit.  Below are the Server configuration screen and the movie.xml file.  Other PG movies are visible to the user.

Forget the xml file.

What is shown for the item if you select "Edit Info..." in the Emby web app?

OK, there is no IMDB id number nor a MPAA rating shown despite the presence of metadata.  Where does Emby get this info?  Apparently the metadata, which I get from MediaCenterMaster, is not utilized.

What exactly is shown when you select edit info? Can you show us that?

Additionally, please be advised that since you are using legacy, you need the xml metadata plugin. However instead of doing that I would suggest having media center master save nfo instead.

Putting .NFO metadata into the movie folder solved the problem, thanks.  Changed MediaCenterMaster configuration to do this in the future.

I am having this problem with a R-rated movie that is visible to users without parental permissions, but not with users that have parental controls set to an R-rated limit.  I have attached the .NFO file from MediaCenterMaster.  I did not attach the server log as I am not sure it contains information about this behavior, but will do so if appropriate.

There's no rating in that nfo file. There's some kind of mpaa description text but based on that nfo emby will treat it as unrated content.

For the best experience possible, consider letting Emby manage and create your metadata.

I thought this would be the case, but when I first set up Emby I had some problems.  Just switched the library configuration for TV and Movies to have Emby pull metadata for both.  Movies seems unaffected, except the aforementioned R-rated movie now shows up in a user with R-rated parental controls.

However, the TV library lost all but two of the recorded series.  Not quite sure why this happened.  Changed the configuration last night so it has had a chance to refresh.

Well you need to update ratings for existing titles. Just changing the setting will not do anything for current titles in your library, only for new metadata refreshes going forward.

Understood.  But all the TV shows disappeared for a user without parental controls.  Will check further.  Maybe Emby is no longer accepting .XML metadata now that the library configuration has been changed to Emby metadata scraping of .NFO format.

Yes please see post #4 about that.

Somehow legacy metadata is accepted for Movies, but not TV.  If I clear out the old TV metadata and re-scan the library the TV series will appear in the clients.  Guess it is time to change over to Emby metadata.

That is highly recommended because that is what we're actively testing. Thanks.

Do you have the xml plugin?

No.  If the preferred Emby .NFO metadata format proves to work well, I'll convert over to that, hassle that it may be.  I don't want to be the fish swimming against the current, just want this stuff to work.

After clearing out all the old metadata and storing it on the fast Windows SSD (instead of the nearly-full local RAID array that holds all my media) performance is improved using Emby metadata.  Seems to work pretty well, guess I just had to fully commit to it.

@Luke

Was this only a issue because of the additional data in mpaa provided by MCM?
