Image processing on channel logos is horrible

Why do you trim the channel images to the actual logo size?

No matter what kind of image i provide - transparent png, jpg with white backround, fixed aspect ratio or not - it always looks terrible ugly in the web interface or Android TV or both.

Some pictures to illustrate what i mean (there are more bad samples):

If you're willing to spend some time, I found this online image editor that allowed me to massage my existing logos, as well as making a few custom items I was missing, or didn't like.

Ended up cropping & resizing them all to a consistent 215 x 75. They look pretty good in both WMC & Emby...

I wouldn't call TNT with an ellipse instead of circle pretty good, but each to his own ^_^

My logos are all the same size in 16:9 landscape, but Emby is cropping them!

The format was mainly intended for WMC, but as you say, "each to his own". I'll take an occasional misshapen circle over the random cropping any day. The 'On Now'  page drives me nutz, but at least here, I can impose a little order.  Hope you manage to work it out.

Transparent png should come out fine however if it is white background then it should come out the same as it went in.

Also we are applying it to jpg when we shouldn't be so i'll correct that. Thanks.

I replaced all of my channel images with icons from this website:

http://www.iconharmony.com/icons/home

They look nice, they're consistent in size and shape, he has almost every channel you can imagine and if he doesn't he will create and add them for you (provided you make a small donation).

@@ebr for consistency can you please change the image placeholder in Android TV's channel view to a square format?

This is what the mobile app, theater and the web apps are using.

This is how it looks after my simple border trick (logos from LyngSat):

what image format are these?

JPG or PNG with white background. Because of all the recent changes to live tv images and because my tv plugins don't provide program images, i'm now doing my own image processing.

Original channel logo:

After processing as channel logo:

After processing for movie programs:

After processing for tv show programs:

Most of the TV Channel images I have seen are not square.  But with the server cutting out all the white space now, I need to change something to make them look better outside the guide (the guide is fine still).
