Soki 9
Hello fellow Emby fans, I would love to talk about the topic troubleshooting in general. I have some problems where I do not understand where the actual issue comes from but I would love learn and understand how I can troubleshoot those problems. I hope you can give some helpfull advice. First of all, I myself, watching via Laptop->HDMI->TV or Gen1-Fire-Stick do not (over very very rarely) encounter issues while streaming any kind of media. (just some weird async problems with some older avi medias.) BUT f.e. my Wife watching via Apple TV Gen4 does pretty regulary encounter problems like "stopping streams" (even though I see the transcoding was fully done in management)... my Sons watching via Fire Stick Gen3 and Fire TV gen2 seem do not even get Emby working and need to "hack" a litle with some 3rd Party Player and so on..... Of course I first check if there is some network issue, old version, etc etc... but it realy seems to come down to the clients which are used. Now... I dont realy want to bug you all here with constant posts of logs... so I do want to learn how to read and understand those logs myself and what workflow should be done before even study those long logs. I want to learn to answer questions like the following: - where does the issue come from - is it server or client based - is it maybe the file itself and why edit: I could maybe even write a tutorial based on the feedback and what i've learned for other users in here !? Can you maybe give some examples, tipps, etc here? That would be realy great.Thanks. Edited July 22, 2017 by Soki
Luke 37271
Hi @@Soki. Best place to start off by discussing an example and attaching the information requested in how to report a problem: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/790-how-to-report-a-problem/?view=getnewpost Thanks !
