This has occurred few times were the guide data provider incorrectly leaves the episode number the same as the one previousely but the episode name has changed.

Can emby as fallback like wmc (I think wmc uses previously shown tag) still record it if it doesn't have previously shown tag it would be also helpful if you could just click on that episode and record from the same window.

Sorry Luke I copied the wrong part of xmltv data as you can see now both episodes have the same number system but different title

Different title

  <sub-title lang="en">2017 - Special Souffle Immunity Challenge</sub-title>

  <sub-title lang="en">2017 - Pressure Test - Set By Kylie Millar</sub-title>

Same episode numbers

  <episode-num system="SxxExx">S09E53</episode-num>
  <episode-num system="xmltv_ns">8.52..</episode-num>

Both are new episodes

I just did an update of the guide and they corrected the episode number but this has happened a number of times before I rather have it record than not if the previously shown tag is empty.

It is not being recorded but it should as it is a new episode it doesn't have a previously shown tag.

They made few errors here so hopefully they will pick it up and correct it. Monday night episode at 19:30 that is a new episode but they used the same episode number so emby is not going to record it.

Ok this is because of the "Dont record episodes in my library". This compares using season and episode numbers. You can resolve this by unchecking that.

I don't see how we can automatically handle this without causing lots of duplicated recordings for other users.

It just means that I have to do more checking not ideal when you are used to wmc set up and record and never fails. I will try your suggestion the next time I see something like this.

Well WMC doesn't have that setting to check against existing episode numbers, so I would think you could just pretend that it's not there, right?
