windows emby Theater error black screen

I have been getting black screen just did the update to 2.8.1 from 2.7.9( i think thats what it was) and i still get an black screen i have made sure my drivers are updated to latest and clean. i tried to launch it manual and this is the error i get from command line

What kind of graphics card?

this is a laptop intel 4600 with optimux nvidia gtx 750m

If you double click the window to toggle fullscreen, does that resolve it?

the weirdest thing i have updated to the latest ver and now my main computer with an nvidia 1060 has the black screen issues as well the version i had before did not have the electron as far as i know

I get the same error but I use an ATI card and making it full screen does restore focus.

got to love that black screen i just tested on my computer with a dedicated nvidia 1060 card with the geforce experience and the latest game ready driver and i get the dreaded black only screen with no option or anything

When i try to play  a movie i sometimes get a black screen,  closing ET and opening it again might work. I have a intel NUC and it has an Intel integrated graphics chip. 

 

Does it only happen for you when ET is not in full screen mode?

see my settings below, i have not changed any settings recently and i dont know what has caused it.

Are your windows updates and video drivers up to date?

Windows is up to date, there was only a Intel Net driver which was an optional update.

 

There was a more up to date GFX driver from Intel and so i have installed it. Does it appear to be a driver related issue?

 

edit - i watched a few things last night and no problem so far, ill report back if it happens again.

I experienced the black screen again last night, clicking on the screen to reduce from full screen and back to full screen did not help, i had to close ET a couple of times and then it worked.

Thanks @@Luke, does it look like we need to update Electron to fix this issue, can this be done independently or do i need to wait for an update?

I have windows 10 1506 1607 and 1703 and i can not get windows theater to work on any of them all of the lateest nvidia and or intel hd graphics

on my pc win7sp1 with nvidia graphics card the following points were the problem:

 

- had to activate aero as mentioned here

 

- directx update only installs the current version updates - had to install directx11 manually for the drivers to be uptodate

 

- scripting / JavaScript etc.. security settings can be found or have to be set in internet explorer security settings - after setting the intranet zone security and scripting options to low (+ enabling some of the even then disabled scripting options) installation worked fine and theater is running now.

Same problem happened to me here.  normally i can remove from full screen mode and it works.  this time can't do that.  screen never goes away.  attempted to uninstall and remove all settings, run ccleaner, reboot and re-install.  this worked once but i received a warning regarding emby premiere.  I checked my server and my lifetime key is still in place.  stopped and restarted emby theater and it was back to lights out black screen.

 

please advise.

Thanks.  I have been fiddling with trying to figure this out for the longest time.  Sometimes I would think I fixed it then have it go back to the black screen soon after.  For now turning off the auto hide taskbar has worked
