Luke 37378
Hi, welcome. We do not have any DRM features at this time. Thanks.
Atlugar 0
Thx Luke! I'm. interpreting this to mean DRM'ed movies are not viewable from an Emby server?
Luke 37378
DRM from where?
Luke 37378
We have not done any testing, so I think it will probably not work.
Atlugar 0
DRM from where? Most movies are riddled with DRM. VLC plays them regardless. Kodi plays them regardless. Apparently Emby has no DRM enforcement but If I stream a movie from Emby server to Emby client the DRM will block playback? Have I got this straight?? This is not a Microsoft Windows [TM] question. No idea why it was moved here.
Luke 37378
Emby will not block anything if that is what you are asking, however we also will not assist with DRM removal. At this point we have not done any work with DRM so we will more or less treat the video like it's not even there. Vlc and Kodi are both ffmpeg based so that is a good sign that your videos may work but it's hard to say for sure. You'll just have to test it out. Atlugar 0
Thank you for taking the time to issue this clarification Luke. Since you're US based, you're firmly under the thumb of the billionaire 1%. No hard feelings. Cheers. A

Atlugar 0
Thanks for the feedback. p.s. folks are trying to stream from Emby server to Kodi via a plug-in. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/46651-embycon/ I assume this won't work for anything with embedded DRM due to Emby not showing the file? Luke 37378
What do you mean not showing the file?
Atlugar 0
What do you mean not showing the file? Respectfully Luke, per your statement "At this point we have not done any work with DRM so we will more or less treat the video like it's not even there." I'm guessing it means DRM'd movies will not stream from an Emby server (?) i.e. will not show in a client (?) Can DRM'd movies be streamed from an Emby server [yes/no/unknown] Can DRM'd movies be viewed in an Emby client [unlikely] Can DRM'd movies be streamed from an Emby server & viewed in Kodi via plugin [.........] Sorry, I'm not trying to be difficult lol :-)
Luke 37378
No, i meant they will be treated just like any other video file.
Atlugar 0
No, i meant they will be treated just like any other video file. Thanks Luke, so we've come 180 degrees to - Emby server *will* stream the DRM'd movie but it's up to the client software to decode. Have I got it straight now?
