Ordering of m3u file

I know that you can edit your m3u file and put channel-id="Number" in and it will order the channels appropriately, but this is VERY unbelievable and task consuming with over 1400 channels.  Is there a program that can add that tag into the line of every channel numerically starting with 1, so emby can use that as an order, until a sort function can be built in to Emby?  Since it merges SD and HD channels etc. Thank you!  I have tried almost everything out there, but it won't add it, and manually updating (they change the list almost weekly) is too time consuming.
